BACHELOR OF MUSIC
The Barenboim-Said Akademie offers an accredited four-year Bachelor of Music degree in orchestral instruments, piano, and composition.
The program is unique because it combines intensive performance training with a broad foundation in the humanities. It consists of 240 ECTS credits, divided into ten related modules. In the first two years, students build a wide range of skills and knowledge. In the final two years, they focus on advanced and elective courses.
Students receive individual instrumental instruction and participate in chamber music and orchestral ensembles under the guidance of internationally renowned faculty. Coursework includes music theory, music history, and ear training, as well as advanced classes in performance, music education, musicology, and composition.
Humanities courses are an essential part of the program. They foster intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and clear expression in both writing and speech. Subjects include philosophy, history, and literature.
At the end of their studies, students complete a final project that combines a full recital performance with a written academic paper on a related topic.
