Audition at the Barenboim-Said Akademie
Congratulations! On behalf of the Admissions Committee, we are delighted to invite you to audition for the Barenboim-Said Akademie for the 2026-27 academic year. On this site you will find important information about public transportation and accommodation in Berlin, as well as details for your audition day at the Akademie.
The Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is the only airport operating in Berlin and is well connected to the city center via the public transportation network.
Berlin’s public transportation is operated by Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) and Deutsche Bahn (DB). The BVG operates underground trains (U-Bahn), trams, and busses, while DB operates commuter trains (S-Bahn) and regional trains (Regionalbahn).
The public transport system is divided into three zones: A (center), B (first ring) and C (second ring), as shown in the picture below. Most destinations you will travel to in Berlin will be in the A or B zone and require an AB ticket. The BER Airport is located in zone C.
Tickets can be purchased from machines at every S-Bahn or U-Bahn station, using either cash or debit card. Please note: After purchasing a paper ticket, you must validate (time stamp) it.
To avoid potential delays and ensure a smooth boarding process, we recommend purchasing your ticket in advance through an app. Digital tickets cost the same and can be bought via the BVG Ticket-App, Fahrinfo-App, or Jelbi-App.
When using public transportation in Berlin, keep your validated ticket with you for the duration of your trip. You do not need to show your ticket when entering trams, trains or busses; however, you must present a valid ticket if requested by an official employee.
For more information about public transport in Berlin, and to download a route-finder app, visit the BVG website: www.bvg.de/en
